This policy explains how EdTuto Academy ("we", "us") handles personal information collected through www.edtuto.com, our enquiry forms, phone calls and WhatsApp messages. It applies to parents, students, and anyone applying to teach with us.
The short version: we collect your name, phone number and what you want to study, so that a counsellor can call you and arrange a class. We do not sell your data, we do not pass your number to advertisers, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time by writing to hello@edtuto.com.
1. Who we are
EdTuto Academy is a home tuition and language training institute operating from C-51, Old Govindpura, Parwana Road, Delhi 110051, India. For anything relating to this policy or your personal data, contact us at hello@edtuto.com or +91 97170 17834.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Name of the parent or student.
- Mobile number, and email address if you provide one.
- Course details: class, subjects, board, language, level and preferred batch timings.
- Locality or area in Delhi, so we can match a tutor who can reach you.
- Anything you write in a message box, or tell us on a call or on WhatsApp.
- For tutor applicants: qualifications, teaching experience, and the documents you send for verification.
Information collected automatically
- Advertising click identifiers such as Google's
gclid, and campaign tags in the page address (utm_source,utm_campaignand similar). These tell us which advertisement or search brought you here. - Basic technical data your browser sends: page visited, referring page, approximate location, device and browser type.
- Cookies and similar storage used by Google Analytics and Google Ads, described in section 6.
We do not ask for and do not want your bank details, card numbers, Aadhaar number, passwords, or your child's school ID through this website. Fees are settled directly with our office.
3. Why we use it
- To call or message you back about the enquiry you submitted.
- To match you with a suitable tutor or batch and arrange your free demo class.
- To share the necessary details with the assigned tutor: the student's name, class, subjects, area and contact number. Nothing beyond what the tutor needs to reach you and teach.
- To keep a record of enrolment, schedules, fees and progress updates once classes begin.
- To measure which advertisements and search terms actually produce enquiries, so we do not waste money on the ones that do not.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations in India.
4. Consent, and how to withdraw it
When you submit an enquiry form, call us or message us on WhatsApp, you are consenting to being contacted about that enquiry by phone, SMS and WhatsApp. This is the legal basis on which we process your data, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
You can withdraw that consent at any time. Say so on a call, reply STOP on WhatsApp, or email hello@edtuto.com. We will stop contacting you and, if you ask, delete your details.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with:
- The tutor or trainer assigned to you, and only the details needed to conduct the classes.
- Google, as the provider of Google Workspace, where enquiries are stored in a Google Sheet, and of Google Analytics and Google Ads for measurement.
- WhatsApp / Meta, when you choose to message us there, under their own terms.
- Government or legal authorities, if we are required by law to produce records.
We do not sell personal data. We do not rent, trade or supply your phone number to other coaching institutes, lead-generation companies, advertisers or data brokers. If you get a call from a competitor after enquiring with us, it did not come from us.
6. Cookies and advertising
The site uses cookies and browser storage for two purposes:
- Measurement. Google Analytics tells us how many people visited a page and what they did there, in aggregate.
- Advertising. Google Ads records that an enquiry followed a particular ad click, using the click identifier described above. This may also be used to show you our ads again on other websites (remarketing).
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of personalised Google advertising at adssettings.google.com, and opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on. The site works fine without these cookies; only our measurement suffers.
7. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that did not become enrolments: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Enrolled students: for the duration of the classes and for 3 years afterwards, so we can respond to queries about past sessions and meet accounting requirements.
- Tutor applications: up to 24 months, or until you ask us to remove them.
8. How we protect it
Enquiries are stored in a Google Workspace account with access limited to our counselling and administration staff. The website is served over HTTPS. Tutors are given only the details needed for their assigned student, and are bound by confidentiality terms in their agreement with us.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will inform you and the relevant authority as required under Indian law.
9. Children's data
Our services are for school students, but the enquiry and the enrolment are made by a parent or guardian, and the contact number we hold is theirs. We do not knowingly collect information directly from a child under 18 without parental involvement. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us on their own, write to us and we will remove it.
10. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal data of yours we hold and who we have shared it with.
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
- Delete your data, where we are not required to keep it by law.
- Stop contacting you.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you are unable to.
Email hello@edtuto.com with your request and the phone number you originally gave us, so we can find your record. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may raise the matter with the Data Protection Board of India.
11. Links to other websites
Pages on this site may link to WhatsApp, Google Maps, or social media profiles. Once you leave our site, their privacy policies apply, not ours.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be mentioned on our contact page.
